September 14, 2010 at 7:30 am — Energy Finance Discussion Group, “A Look Back on TARP, Bailouts and Stress Tests in Banking.  Why Does this Matter to Us?

Location: Denver Athletic Club, 1325 Glenarm Place

Cost: $26 per person one week prior to the event ($35 thereafter)

Description:

Todd Berryman, Senior Vice President and Deputy Manager of the Denver National Banking Office for Bank of the West, will review the significant upheaval the U.S. banking industry has experienced in the last several years and put them into the context of current events in commercial lending. This upheaval has resulted in reduced lending, bank failures, and “government bailouts” of those institutions deemed “too big to fail”. These events have also lead to Europe applying a stress test to its banks, and has brought an international agreement within the banking industry, referred to as Basel II, to the forefront of the banking industry. While the topic is immense in size, Mr. Berryman will try to encapsulate some of these broad issues, and illustrate how they affect both the energy industry, and the audience as consumers.
